Elections and Voting Behaviour: Stage 2, Semester 1 (2024)
Research Design: Stage 2, Semester 2 (2025)
The module offers an introduction to voting behaviour from a comparative perspective, comparing cases across the world. In each session, students will be introduced to major theories of voting and empirical evidence over time and across contexts. The module employs theoretical tools from political science, sociology, and psychology from the last six decades to introduce students to fundamental questions and debates on how citizens decide in elections.
Research Design engages students with different ways to conduct empirical research into political phenomena. The module introduces students to qualitative and quantitative research tools so that students can analyse empirical research and come up with appropriate research designs to conduct their own research. This module aims to develop students’ confidence and independence as researchers of political phenomena, both within the undergraduate degree and beyond.
